Dawn Miller

Site Coordinator, Oroville Jr/Sr High School, Oroville School District, Future Ready 21st CCLC

Dawn Miller was born in Seattle, but spent most of her life growing up elsewhere, including Fort Wayne, Indiana; Bayard, Nebraska; and Tonasket, Washington, where her father became a pastor at the same church where his father had served as pastor before him. She now resides in the town of Oroville. There’s no place in the world where she would rather live, because she can hike, hunt, fish, garden, and swim, all just a short distance from her own front door.

Her goal is to help the students she works with to achieve their goals and become the best version of themselves. The high point of her day is seeing someone’s face light up when they have accomplished something they didn’t think was possible. She draws energy and inspiration from the example of her father, who began working with and volunteering for youth enrichment programs immediately after he graduated from college. In other words, you could say that working with young people is in her DNA.

Dawn is married and the mother of four grown children. Although her nest is nearly empty, she stays busy in her garden where her specialty is growing way too many vegetables. Fortunately, she has plenty of friends and relatives that she can pass the surplus produce on to. Her most treasure possession is the brass-bottomed pot and wooden spoon that her grandmother used to make spaghetti for church potluck dinner for as long as she can remember. Dawn is dedicated to keeping that wonderful tradition alive.
