Fredy Marin earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Yakima Valley College in 2021. He has lived in the Tieton/Cowiche area since he was six years old, where he completed all his schooling in the Highland School District before taking a job first as a tutor for four years in the “Make Change” program before becoming the full time Junior/Senior Site Coordinator.
Growing up and working in a rural agricultural community, Fredy was introduced to a strong work ethic at a young age. He continues to draw inspiration from his parents and the professional mentors who have helped him become a better person and achieve his life goals. He still considers his family to be his most treasured possession.
No matter what else happens in his life, Fredy’s proudest achievement will always be getting his college degree. Because he remembers a time when he thought he was destined to be a fieldworker the rest of his life, he identifies with and cares deeply about helping the students in his community get access to higher education. Knowing that he is helping make that possible for them makes all his hard work worthwhile.
Fredy firmly believes that if you don’t take risks, you will never find success. His motto is “Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.” So it’s not surprising that he has always been fascinated by the universe that exists outside our planet, and likes to imagine that he will be able to travel to space someday.
