Sandra Adams

Grant Administrator, ALTERA

Born in Fresno, California, Sandra moved to Longview, Washington with her family when she was in fourth grade. After marrying, she and her husband lived at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, and Edwards AFB in Mohave, California before moving back to Kent, Washington and finally to Zillah, where they have been happily settled for the past 16 years.

Thanks to all this moving around, Sandra’s career path has been varied and wide-ranging. She worked as a secretary for three different law firms in three different cities, and she has been an Office Administrator for a promotional products company and for two different orchardists in eastern Washington before joining Altera in 2014. She recently served as chairperson for the Zillah School Board.

Happily married for 38 years, Sandra has two sons and five grandchildren, who are her favorite people in the world. When she’s not working, she loves gardening, reading, making stained glass creations, and traveling. So far, she has been to Mexico, Hawaii and Australia and Europe. Someday, she’d like to add Singapore to that list.

Sandra’s motto is “Creativity is intelligence having fun.” Her favorite thing about her job is that every day offers an opportunity to support the Altera staff who inspire our students to change their world. And speaking of creativity, if she had the power to do anything in the world, she would like to invent a cure for Alzheimer’s using slug slime. Why not?
