Brandon S. Speers

Site Coordinator, Oroville Elementary, Oroville School District, Future Ready 21st CCLC

Brandon Speers was born and raised in Puyallup, Washington, and earned an AA degree from nearby Green River Community College. After working in the restaurant and food industry for 15 years, he moved to Tonasket and took a job with AmeriCorps, tutoring and providing afterschool programs at Tonasket Elementary School. Inspired by how much he loved this work, he returned to college and earned a degree in Elementary Education from Western Governors University.

To this day, Brandon has never regretted that decision. He continues to believe that teaching is the job he was meant to do, especially whenever he sees that look of amazement on his students’ faces when they realize that they have learned something new and actually had fun doing it. In fact, Brandon’s only regret about his job is that there never seems to be enough time to work with all the students who could use some extra help to excel in school.

Brandon and his wife are the proud parents of a daughter and a son, who happen to be the two most awesome kids in the world. A few years ago, he built them a playhouse with a full deck and a climbing wall. In addition to woodworking, he also enjoys playing percussion instruments and trying to learn to play the guitar. Someday, he would like to learn to ride one of those hovering skateboards from Back to the Future 2. Who knows? Maybe he’ll build one and give it a try.
